THE ANCIENT PORTALS OF INFAMY : 9-11 AWAKENING
Few experiences in my life can be compared to that which I went through on account of the events surrounding the 9-11 incident. It was a moment of rude awakening. The other experience which surpassed this from a point of gravity was when I first realized who Jesus is.
Scales started to fall away from my eyes. And I didn't even know they were there in the first place.
It wasn't the traumatic visions of the airplanes attacking and plowing into the twin towers from opposing sides. No. Well...maybe that and little more. And it wasn't on account of the numbers of people who went down and perished with the two towers. No.
With all due respect, a lot of emotions have always tended to rise due to the collection of nationalities who lost their lives in that incident. Very valid. But the world we live in is no stranger to victims of violence in varying scales of magnitude.
It was, I think, the calculated spectacle rather which caused the nations of the world to hold their breath in unison across the globe.
It was singularly spectacular. Whether you believed the conspiracy theorists or the proponents of the terrorist attacks theories, one thing was clear: the act was calculated to knock the breath out of the the ordinary man in broad daylight. All of these are given facts, one might assert. But my experiences followed a different path.
That incident came at a time when I was confused and struggling with personal directions. It was the last thing I needed even though it proved therapeutic in the long run. The therapy was, well, due to the deep searching thoughts that overwhelmed me as might be expected of anyone who witnessed a distressful sight.
And really few sights could ever rival that of George Bush standing with a bull horn in his hand among fire fighters, and volunteer rescuers, upon the mountains of debris that were the gaping destruction caused by the ruin of the two towers. All around them were giant sheets of mangled steel and concrete as misty smoke rose out of the entanglements below their feet. Like some blockbuster Hollywood sci-fi movie. Independence Day. Deep Impact. Armageddon...
"...And the people who ... will hear all of it soon..."
What struck me most was not how misplaced the forceful chants of "USA!" "USA" sounded. Not that. What imprinted itself on my mind came by in slow degrees - as the human mind often does in its own mysterious way. Gradually, I noticed that outside of the perimeters of the soon to be named 'Ground Zero' some other 'magnificent buildings' were still glittering in their own respective skylines
And the irony of the situation struck home at once.
Imagine a beautiful and healthy woman. Then again, imagine the same lady with her nose and mouth eaten away by a ludicrous cancer. So powerful was the impact of the September 11 events...
But again time tends to heal human pain...
